Turn an Interaction into a Fundraising Plan Step

A user may enter a general interaction that is determined to be a plan step at some future point.  This customization provides an interface for converting a general interaction into a fundraising plan step.  You can convert an interaction to a plan step on an existing fundraising plan on the current constituent, or search for a different constituent and convert to a plan step on an fundraising plan for that constituent.

Select an interaction and go to the Edit form. Click on the Link to plan tab.

• Prospect plan: click on the magnifying glass to launch Prospect plan search. Constituent will default to the current constituent. You can also add a new Prospect plan. Select a fundraising plan; when you return to the Link to plan tab, the plan’s existing steps will be listed.
• Stage: Select a stage from the drop-down list. Stage is required.
• Interaction date shows the date on the interaction.

Click on Save.

Good to Know!

• You cannot convert interactions associated with Events to Fundraising Plan Steps; if you try, you’ll get an error.
• If you opt to convert an interaction to a step on fundraising plan for a different constituent, the original interaction constituent will be added as a Plan Participant on the new Plan Step. 
• If the Interaction is already a Plan Step, the Link to plan tab will be missing entirely.
• If the Interaction has any site(s), the Prospect Plan Search will not show plans that do not have the same site(s).
