Request a new Attribute Category

For a variety of reasons, such as consolidated reporting and analysis, it’s useful for common attributes to have the same globally unique identifier (GUID) across affiliates. For this reason, Attribute Categories will be managed by the Mass General Brigham Development Office and will typically not require any further approval.   

To request a new attribute category 

  1. Log a ticket in Mojo 
  2. The Development Office will analyze the request. 
  3. If there’s a better solution (for instance, a current attribute category already exists), that will be suggested 
  4. Otherwise, the attribute category will be created in the affiliate’s database 
  5. If this attribute should be created for all affiliates, make a note of the GUID & the Applications Team will enter a Task Work Item in TFS to create the attribute with that GUID.  

Good to Know!

  • Note that while Affiliate Admins cannot add, modify or delete Attribute Categories, via the Administration area in Atlas they can: 
    • opt to include them or not in the BBDW, and  
    • mark them active or inactive; inactive attribute categories cannot be added to tables, though you can still report on them.
