Global Change/Synchronize Spouse Recognition Credits

When a spouse relationship exists between two records, this global change can synchronize recognition credits for the two individuals who are connected.

This custom global change utilizes a selection in which both individuals in the relationship must be present for the recognition credit synchronization to occur. Also, the spousal relationship must have both default recognition credits enabled; the global change will always use 100% credit as it does not evaluate the percentage field.

Specifications:

When a relationship is created between two constituents and has the Is Spouse unique relationship, CRM does not change any prior revenue recognition that has been applied to either constituent. This specification will enable a synchronization or recognition credit for two individuals that are connected by the IsSpouse indicator on a relationship.  The net result will be that each individual’s recognition credit will be the same amount although different types.

A process to synchronize recognition credit on revenue (applications) is selected that takes a selection as its input parameter.

The procedure will look at all revenue recognition applied to one constituent and use the following rules:

  1. If relationship has either Apply To unchecked, then ignore both constituents; otherwise,
  2. If the spousal constituent already has recognition credit applied, do nothing to that revenue record.
  3. If the spousal constituent does not have recognition applied, add the recognition for the same amount with the recognition type of:
  4. If Hard Credit, then use Spouse Credit
  5. For other recognition types, use the same type

The Effective Date should be the same.  Note that multiple recognitions may need to be added to the same application if there are multiple types or multiple effective dates (e.g. $10,000 gift recognized as $5,000 in current year and $5,000 in next year.)

Recognition Totals match when new spouse relationship is processed

Presuming that neither spouse was recognized on the same prior gifts, the recognition totals of the two constituent records would equal.
2

If recognition previously existed on a transaction for the new spouse constituent or if either apply to is unchecked, no action is taken

If a revenue transaction had been previously recognized to both spouses, no action is taken.  (This will allow for gifts to be processed and credit applied before the global change process is executed.)

If the apply to option on the relationship is not checked, then do not process the recognition for the couple.

Recognition Types

If Hard Credit for spouse, then apply Spouse Credit type

All other types should be copied.

Process can be scheduled

There is no real-time requirement and the process can be scheduled using a constituent selection as the input.
