Business units in Atlas are the equivalent of the RE development unit and sub unit. Many areas in Atlas can be linked to a business unit, appeals, revenue, campaigns, etc.
You can have up to 3 levels of business unit goals to accommodate development units and sub units, for example Annual Giving and sub units of Individual Giving, Email, etc.
Good to Know!
- Most affiliates used RE campaigns to track fundraising goals for specific development units like Major Giving and Annual Giving. In Atlas this will be done using business unit goals.
- To produce fundraising totals by development unit, we will be totaling revenue by the business unit assigned on the gift instead of the campaign as we did in RE
- This is a customization developed by Partners. We did not convert any data here, it will be entered post conversion.
- Partners maintained a custom table called dim_affiliategoals that stored overall fundraising goals for each affiliate by fiscal year. These will be manually added to this table. The business unit “All Units” represents an overall goal for an affiliate for the specified date range. The type further defines the goal, e.g. BU of “All Units” with type “Revenue” is the overall revenue goal for the affiliate in the date range, BU of “All Units” with type “Capital” is the overall capital goal for the affiliate in the date range.
