When an attribute is “retired,” it can’t be deleted if it is used in a query or anywhere else. The dependencies report makes it easy to find references to attributes. This can be launched directly from the Attribute Categories list:
The report shows queries that use the attribute, plus forms, batches, and stored procedures that reference the attribute.
