Epic Exclusion Constituencies

Patient visit details (or even the entire patient tab) can be hidden from most users based on constituencies.

To manage patient data visibility, go to the Constituents functional area >> Configuration >> Constituencies. Select a constituency code and click on Edit.

The Epic exclusion drop-down list contains the following options:

  • Do not hide
  • Hide visits For constituents with this constituency code, hide all visits; the patient detail and patient family tabs are blank, and the patient summary and visits by admission type widgets show zeros.
  • Hide Patient tab For constituents with this constituency code, hide the entire patient tab for all users except those who have the EPIC Restricted Visits system role.

If Include spouse and children is checked, apply these rules to the constituent’s spouse and children. (Spouses are identified by the This is the spouse flag on a relationship, and children are identified by the child relationship type.)

Good to Know!

  • Users with the Epic Confidential Visits system role can always see the patient tab and patient detail.
