Revenue Classifications

Revenue classifications are a customization added by Partners to allow revenue to be allocated in additional detail.  This is most commonly used for events when we used the RE package code to allocate money to event related areas like tickets, raffles, auctions, etc.

In RE if you received a gift for an event that is split between an event ticket and a general donation, you would enter a gift with multiple splits.  Each to the same fund but with different packages to reflect the different allocations.

In Atlas you cannot split a gift and use the same fund for each split.  To enter the same donation in Atlas, you would add a single gift, but add a revenue classification for tickets, and another for general donation.

IMPORTANT:  Revenue classification is at the revenue level, not at the split level.  If you have one gift split between two or more events and need to add revenue classification information you need to enter them as separate gifts.  For example, a check comes in for event 1 and event 2.  This should be split into two different transactions.
