Adding a Matching Claim
2. Click the Revenue tab. 3. Click Matching gifts under Revenue Details. 4. Search for and select the matching organization. Note: The Organization Search screen searches all organizations, including those with no matching gift conditions defined. You can create a matching gift claim for an organization without defined matching gift conditions.
5. In the Relationship field, select the relationship the constituent has with the matching organization. To add a relationship between the constituent and organization, click the button.
6. To apply the matching gift claim to multiple designations, click Designation. The Split designations screen appears.
Run Clear Matching Gifts Claims
this process is to match up matching gifts entered as unmatched claims with the individuals that generated them. Unmatched matching claims are added to the company when a match is received but you don’t know who to credit for the match.
Good to Know!
- Matching gift conditions are just informational – it doesn’t seem to prevent you from adding a claim that exceeds the max amount matched.
- Matching gifts can only be added to cash received. If we want to add matches to pledges we could do this by adding an attribute to the pledge, and running a process periodically to make sure that the payments are being matched
- When looking at the list of open MG Claims, the Constituent field appends the MG company’s name to the individual being match. This results in an overly long field that makes it hard to find the correct claim to apply the payment to. If you hover over the mg info, or expand the size of the field you can see all the data
- if the amount received is different from the amount of the matching claim, just edit the amount of the matching claim (doesn’t have to be in batch) and then go ahead and post
- Unapplied matching gift claims are matching gifts that arrive from a matching gift company but cannot quickly be linked to an individual donor. Periodically these need to be reviewed using the Revenue/Reconcile Matching Claims to help find the right home for the unapplied matching gift claims
- Matching Claim Appeals – There are no appeals on matching claims. CRM only allows one appeal per transaction, so it would be difficult to assign an appeal if one check from a MG Company is applied to multiple individual’s claims.
- Matching Payment Appeals – because there are no appeals on match claims, there is no defaulted appeal coming in for MG payments. We are working on how best to address this and keep the amount of research/entry to a minimum
