You can control the selections that appear in the ad hoc query designer from Analysis, View Selections. When created the user can decide if the selection should appear in the query designer, in general, only selections useful for other affiliate users should be added to the query designer. Otherwise there can be too many options and it is difficult to find the selections you need.
If you need to remove selections from the query designer you can edit the selection and uncheck the “Show this selection in the query designer” checkbox.
Note that the query type of “Other” is generated by business processes (that check box to create a selection when a process runs) or automatically created by the system for another purpose.
If you don’t know what the selection does, it probably should not be in the query designer.
