How to Create a New Atlas User

Navigate to Application Users

Once in Atlas, click on Administration > Security > Application Users

Add the New User

Click on the Add button

Fill in the Domain name and User name columns as shown below.  Note that you can add multiple users at once.  If this is a user for an affiliate that uses Site, enter the appropriate Site for the user.  When you have completed the data entry, click the Save button.

Link User to a Constituent

It is important to connect/link the user to a Constituent record.  This is important because the Affiliate Admin users do not have privilege to do this.

  1. Search for the user you have created by entering into the search box and hitting Enter.
  2. Expand the options by clicking the chevron next to the Login name.
  3. Click the Edit button.

On the Edit application user page:

4. Change the Constituent link radio button to [domain\user] is linked to:

5. Query for the appropriate Constituent and select it.

6. Click on Save.

Email Addresses

There are two locations where email addresses can be added to a user.  However, the obvious one is not used by the application and the less obvious one is important.  Since this is the case,  it is important that we add the email address to the user rather than leaving this to the Affiliate Admin.

Visible Email Address

On the Application Users page, there is an email address column in the data grid.  This email address is not used by the application but it can be added.  To do this, expand the additional options on the user as done earlier and click Edit email address.

Enter the email address in the form that opens and click Save.

Email Address Used by Alerts

Another email address on the user is used by Alerts.  To enter this address, open the user page by clicking the hyperlink on Display name.

  1. Click on the Email Preferences
  2. Click the Edit button
  3. Add the email address.
  4. Click Save.

The email address should appear on the Application User page:

Good to Know!

  • Once all these steps have been taken, an administrator at the affiliate should add the appropriate system role(s) to the new user account.
