Organization Info/Organization

This section is the Personal Info page for organizations.

Good to Know

  • Add a \ to create a sortable name for an organization – the same way we did it in RE.  See below in “How Do I…” for specifics!
  • CRM will default organization names to be proper case (with the first letter in each word capitalized).  To change the capitalization, for example to add the ABC Corp, first enter the name “ABC” which will change to “Abc”.  Just go back into the name field and make the change to “ABC” and the name will stay uppercase
  • You may see a lot more organizations – all non-constituent employers came over as constituent organizations
  • Anonymity for organizations is below the main Org Details area
  • Organization Additional Information, Classification is the former Donor Class attribute from RE
  • Donor Listing names are added as Attributes now instead of Notes
  • CONVERSION NOTES:
    • Only one web site is displayed on the Org Info page, additional web sites are links on the Documentation and Interactions tab
    • only properly formatted web sites convert
    • Corporate hierarchies can be seen on the Corporate Info tab, these came from RE relationships and the parent organization area on ORG2
    • For conversion, if the RE contact type = “Primary Contact” then the primary contact checkbox was checked and the contact type changed to “General Contact”.  If there was more than one primary contact in RE it will tag as primary the last one it processes.
    • Please change the RE contact type of “Primary Contact” to “General Contact” in CRM

How Do I?

  • The Add Organization entry screen doesn’t have all the information I need?  There is a lot of additional information that can be added to constituents after they exist in Atlas.  Add the constituent first, and then add the additional information afterwards.  For Organizations, this includes matching, additional contacts, etc.
  • Organizational Sortnames – MGB has determined we want to sort organizations as follows, recall that sort names are determined by adding a \ just before the word you want to sort by.
    • If the organization contains the names of individuals, then we want to sort by the first last name that appears in the name.  For example:  “Donald and Agnes Kringle Foundation” sorts under K, “Bill Smith and Melinda Gates Foundation” sorts under S, and “John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation” sorts under M.
    • If the organization starts with the words “A”, “An” or “The”, then we want to sort by the next significant word.  For example: “The Waldorf Astoria” sorts under W, “A Perfect Haircut” sorts under P, and “The Antique Shoppe” sorts under A.
    • If the organization does not fall into the categories above then no action is needed.  It will sort by the first letter of the first word.
  • Marking Organizations Anonymous
